Joint Logistic Unit North Queensland (JLU (NQ)

Mr Larry Staggs OAM, Regional Sustainment Manager, Joint Logistics Unit (North Queensland) will present an update on logistics business opportunities and the process for small to medium business to compete for work from Joint Logistics Unit (North Queensland). Topics will include the regional changes that are occurring with Plan Beersheba and land 121 as well as the industry opportunities and accessing work from the JLU (NQ).

Townsville City Council’s Major Projects

Simon Ormes, Senior Project Manager with Townsville City Council’s Major Projects division will present on two of Council’s most significant current infrastructure projects.  Simon will provide an overview of the CBD Utilities Upgrade Project – a $43m investment in the renewal and future-proofing of the CBD’s water and sewer supply network and the Townsville Waterfront Promenade Project – a $137m staged promenade along the banks of Ross Creek providing linkage between The Strand and Townsville’s suburban bikeway network, unlocking 48 hectares of developable land within the CBD.

ICN - Rio Tinto’s South of Embley Project

Rio Tinto’s South of Embley Project is a $1B+ greenfield bauxite operation in the Weipa / Aurukun region of Western Cape York, Far North Queensland. The new development will eventually replace the existing East Weipa mine centre and develop the high quality bauxite reserves available south of the Weipa Peninsula. The Project involves the staged increase in production from 22 up to 50 million dry product tonnes per annum.
