Advance Cairns has welcomed the Palaszczuk’s Government’s announcement that the Aquis project was back on track after a lengthy ‘pit stop’.

The signing of the Process Deed allows the development of a detailed proposal and the commencement of the probity process, all of which had stalled earlier this year,  said Advance Cairns Chief Executive Mark Matthews.

This step in the development of the Aquis Great Barrier Reef Resort was proof positive of the commitment that all sides have to the success of the project, Mr Matthews said.

“Our region is right behind the project and we urge Aquis to accelerate work to see this project commence as early as possible,” Mr Matthews said.

“Businesses in Tropical North Queensland should now move ahead with their future growth plans with a degree of certainty. It’s now time for action to see these projects move forward.”

The Aquis Great Barrier Reef project is an integrated hotel, casino, convention and entertainment centre and golf course at Yorkey’s Knob near Cairns.
