RTBU stalls action against Aurizon amid negotiation

Posted February 26, 2015

The Rail Tram and Bus Union (RTBU) has ceased further industrial action against Aurizon.

Multiple 24 hour stoppages were due to take place from today in the Blackwater and the Central Highlands region.  They have since been cancelled following Aurizon’s agreement to further negotiation.

The talks were an important step forward, RTBU state president Bruce Mackie told the ABC.

“This is a sufficient enough development that we’ve called off legal, protected industrial action,” Mr Mackie said.

“Let’s be realistic, the best way for this agreement to be resolved is for the workplace delegates, RTBU officials and decision-makers from the business, sitting around the room and trying to come up with an agreement.”

Aurizon said it was committed to talks with rail unions for new enterprise agreements.
