Coffee campaign to perk up Gladstone

Gladstone Engineering Alliance (GEA) has launched a campaign to help perk up the local community in an environment of low commodity prices and increased business challenges.

The “Gladstone Region - Our Home” coffee cup campaign will run throughout March, coinciding with GEA’s Gladstone Regional Supply Chain Expo on March 17 and the first P&O cruise ship visit to the city.

“The campaign was developed to better educate the community on the Gladstone region and its contribution to the Australian economy whilst also promoting local business,” GEA projects officer Kim Roberts said.

“We tried to find a way of communicating with the community that would be seen, used and read every day – and the stand-out idea was takeaway coffee cups.”

The initiative provides coffee lovers with information about the region on the cup and through the QR code (or by visiting, and customers can go in the draw to win gift vouchers for local businesses.

“A lot of local cafés have jumped on board with the campaign which is fantastic to see – business supporting the community and the community supporting business,” Ms Roberts said.

GEA is encouraging the community to take a selfie with their morning coffee and share it on their Facebook page – Gladstone Engineering Alliance.
