Landowners, small businesses and local residents will have the chance to purchase more than 600 retired mining items at Mount Isa Mines’ annual auction on Thursday 26 March.

A broad range of retired mining assets will go under the hammer at 9am sharp, including dump trucks, loaders, blast hole drills, graders, light vehicles, as well as a large cross section of mining spares.

Huw Werrett, Manager Supply Mount Isa Mines said the auction enhances the company’s sustainable development performance while presenting a valuable opportunity for buyers to secure quality items.

“Importantly, the auction means our retired equipment and disused materials are given a new life elsewhere rather than being disposed of in land fill,” Mr Werrett said.

“It also gives smaller mining operations, landowners, and members of the community an opportunity to purchase equipment and materials at a fraction of the market value.”

The auction will take place at the Mount Isa Mines Disposal Yard located off May Downs Road. All visitors must be wearing closed in shoes, long pants and a long-sleeved shirt to enter the yard.
