Miner jailed for fraud

A mine worker has been jailed for 18 months for receiving more than $13,000 in payment for work he didn’t do.

Scott James Ward, 29 pleaded guilty to fraud charges for falsifying his timesheet hours.

In one fraud matter Mr Ward was paid $9030 and hadn’t even entered the workplace, reported The Daily Mercury.

In another case, Mr Ward was paid $4288 for falsifying timesheets while falsely claiming he worked hours at the Saraji coal mine.

Mr Ward has been ordered to serve nine months in custody and pay compensation.
