Gas companies cut costs and slash jobs in the Surat Basin

Posted February 26, 2015

Up to 1000 jobs could be on the line as gas companies execute mass sackings in the Surat Basin.

The move follows a collapse in oil prices and a surge of gas company cutbacks.

The boom towns of Dalby and Chinchilla were likely to be most affected in coming months, The Courier Mail reported.

Many of the losses will come from the 101 work camps in the Surat Basin that house fly-in, fly-out workers.
