The rescue team from central Queensland’s Oaky No.1 mine has placed second at the 2015 Australian Mines Rescue Underground Competition in Newcastle, behind North Wambo.

Other Queensland teams in the challenge included Broadmeadow mine (fourth), Moranbah North (sixth) and Kestrel (seventh).

Chief assessor Ray Smith, from the Queensland Mines Rescue Service, said the North Wambo team from New South Wales had finished well ahead of the pack in the competition, held at Newstan Colliery on October 22.
